Magdalena Bendini is a senior economist in the Latin and Central America Region of the Education Global Practice at the World Bank. In this role, she leads large-scale early childhood projects with the governments of El Salvador and Honduras. She has been studying and working on issues related to human development and poverty for the past 15 years at the World Bank, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, the United Nations Development Program, and other international organizations. Her recent work has focused primarily on early childhood development as well as the development of skills over the life cycle. Magdalena was a core team member of the World Development Report 2018: Learning to Realize Education’s Promise and contributed to the World Bank’s Skills for Africa regional study. She also worked at the Center for Universal Education at the Brookings Institution on the Skills for a Changing World project. She holds a PhD in public policy from the University of Maryland.
