Currently Vice Chairman, Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) and Project Director, Jal Marg Vikas Project, Shri Pravir Pandey is a 1992 Batch Officer of the Indian Audit and Accounts Service (IA&AS)) and his parent organization is Comptroller and Audit General of India (CAG). Shri Pravir Pandey has taken upon himself to rewrite the history of navigation on river Ganga. Since March, 2014, he has been in IWAI, first as Member (Finance) and then Vice Chairman. After taking over the reins of the prestigious Jal Marg Vikas Project (JMVP) as Project Director. Of the three multimodal terminals being built on river Ganga under JMVP, the ones at Varanasi and Sahibganj are already operational. He completed his Master’s degree from Delhi School of Economics in 1990; trained at Civil Service College, ASCOT, U.K. in 1997; did a second Masters in International Development Policy at Terry Sanford Institute of Public Policy at Duke University. in 2007-2008; completed Certification Course in Public Private Partnership in Project Finance at Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. in 2015. He has worked as Director, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India in 2002-2007 and then on various UN Assignments in London, Geneva, Manila and Riyadh before serving as the Auditor General of Uttarakhand from 2008 to 2011. He was then posted as Minister in the Embassy of India, Washington DC, U.S.A. from 2011-2014.
