A native Dane, Mark Emil Hermansen is the Head of Development at MAD, a Copenhagen based non-profit, founded by chef René Redzepi, with the mission to build a better world through a better meal. Upon graduating from Oxford University with a degree in social anthropology, he joined the team at the Nordic Food Lab, a Copenhagen-based non-profit research institution. At the lab, he headed the development of various research projects, most notable the pursuit of building a gastronomic argument to promote entomophagy - eating insects - as a future protein resource.
In 2012, Mark Emil joined MAD, taking lead on development, fundraising and daily management of the teams in Copenhagen and New York. Mark Emil Hermansen is a Global Shaper under the World Economic Forum Global Shapers Community for young, promising leaders under the age of 30.
