Bonnie McClafferty is the director of the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition’s (GAIN) Agriculture for Nutrition Global Program as well as director of the organization’s U.S. Office. The Agriculture for Nutrition program at GAIN seeks to unlock obstacles along nutritious food supply chains to make diverse and nutritious diets accessible to the poor and undernourished. She has spent the better part of five years designing evidence based multi sectoral solutions that harnesses the power and incentives of the public and private sector to expand the scale and reach of nutritious foods for those in need. Innovations include the Marketplace for Nutritious Foods and the Postharvest Alliance for Nutrition. Bonnie joined GAIN in 2011 after 12 years with HarvestPlus where she headed up their office on Resource Mobilization, Development and Communications. Bonnie serves on the Steering Committee of the Program for Aflatoxin Control in Africa, the Technical Advisory Committee of Helen Keller International. In her spare time, Bonnie enjoys renovating a small farm in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia that she is working to bring back into production.
