Professor Antonia Maioni holds a B.A. from Université Laval, an M.A. from Carleton University's Norman Paterson School of International Affairs, and a Ph.D. in political science from Northwestern University. As Professor in the Department of Political Science and the Institute for Health and Social Policy, she previously served as Associate Vice-Principal for Research and International Relations (2015-2016), and Director of the McGill Institute for the Study of Canada (2001-2011). Her research and publications focus on social and health policy, Canadian, Québec and comparative politics. She served as President of the Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences from 2013 to 2015, and she has served on the Research Council of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research since 2015.
