Mr. Benchaaboun was appointed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, August 20th 2018, Minister of Economy and Finance; he was subsequently reappointed to the post and assigned an additional portfolio that of the Reform of the Administration. Early on his career, he was appointed Director of the Administration of Customs and Indirect Taxes, responsible for coordinating transversal projects on behalf of the Ministry of Economy and Finance. Three years later, Mr. Benchaaboun joined the Banque Centrale Populaire (BCP) as Deputy General Manager, first, in charge of common services, then the Development Department. In September 2003, he was appointed by HM the King as General Manager of the National Agency for the Regulation of Telecommunications, a position he held until February 2008, when he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Banque Centrale Populaire (BCP). Mr. Benchaaboun also held several senior positions in the private sector, most notably as Director of the Industrial Division of Alcatel Alsthom Group in Morocco. He is also a member of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council, a manager of banks and companies and a member of the boards of the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity and the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment. Mr. Benchaaboun is a graduate of the National School of Telecommunications of Paris.
