Simon is lead producer, and occasionally host, of the multi-award-winning BBC World Service podcast and radio show ‘The Food Chain’ – a weekly documentary exploring our world through the prism of food. From the role food plays in grief or the way it can fight crime, to the dangers faced by food delivery drivers or the mental health crisis in farming, The Food Chain shows that what we eat and drink is inextricably intertwined with almost every aspect of our lives. Simon helped lead the program to two prestigious James Beard Awards and made it one of the most listened-to programs across the BBC World Service, a network which reaches an estimated 90 million English speakers every week. He also created an incredibly successful mini-series called ‘My life in five dishes’, where chefs, cooks and food writers from around the world tell the stories of their lives through the five dishes or ingredients that mean the most to them – guests include Gordon Ramsey, Samin Nosrat and Jose Andres.

As a BBC journalist for more than a decade Simon has produced and reported for numerous other high-profile programs, including the corporation’s flagship domestic radio news show ‘Today’ on BBC Radio 4, as well as two of the biggest business programs on the BBC World Service – ‘Business Daily’ and ‘World Business Report’. He has also written extensively for the BBC’s online pages.

Before joining the BBC Simon was a senior reporter for Kent Messenger Group, one of the biggest regional newspapers in England, and was twice named print journalist of the year. He lives in London with his wife and two young children.
