Nelson Gomonda works as a Monitoring and Reporting Project Manager for the African Ministers’ Council on Water (AMCOW), supported by Africa Water Facility. He leads the implementation of the Project aimed at establishing and consolidating the Pan-Africa Monitoring and Reporting System for the Water and Sanitation Sector in Africa. Prior to joining AMCOW, he worked as the Pan-Africa Programme Manager and Regional Advocacy Manager where he led and coordinated, jointly with regional teams, WaterAid’s policy, advocacy and service delivery engagement at sub-regional and pan-Africa levels.
Nelson believes that the first step out of poverty starts with availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
Earlier in his career, Nelson worked with different development partner organizations and projects providing leadership, policy advice, consultancy services and programme management. These include: European Union (EU) Delegation, DFID, UNDP-supported Malawi Poverty Reduction Strategy (MPRS) within the Ministry of Economic Planning and Development, GTZ /GIZ, and ActionAid.
